The Missoula Chamber Music Collective is excited to present "Songbook," featuring the incredible talents of Jeff Taylor on marimba and Jesse Dochnahl on alto saxophone. As we kick off the season, we are honored to showcase the works of renowned composer David Maslanka, who spent 27 years as a beloved member of the Missoula community. Maslanka's compositions for winds and band are widely recognized, and "Songbook" offers a unique and intimate experience with its captivating duo arrangement for alto saxophone and marimba.

In addition to Maslanka's masterpiece, we will also be treating the audience to Andrew Beall's "Song of 'Almah," a beautiful composition that sets the text of the Song of Solomon to music for soprano and marimba. Brad Mehldau, known for his Grammy-winning piano trio, will be represented through his original song "I love the dark hours of my being," inspired by Rainier Maria Rilke's Book of Hours. Furthermore, Evan Chambers' "Come Down Heavy" promises to be a thrilling performance, as it transforms well-known American folksongs into a captivating piece for violin, saxophone, and piano.
