Hey friends. One year in with the best live audience in the business and we know it works, so we're back for more! Each week a different guest joins World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker and we share something old, something new, Something Borrowed, and something blue. Sometimes poems, sometimes music, always a good time. Since last season I have had a baby (!) and am techinically on paternity leave but the one exception is my other baby which is this baby of a night at our new home ARK Cliftonville with Special Guest Maria Ferguson As well as some chat and performance from me and Maria, there will be an open mic where you are welcome to come and perform a poem or song (either your own or Something Borrowed (!) from someone else). Harry Baker is the World Poetry Slam Champion and champion of the people. His TED Talks have been watched by millions of people and translated into over 20 different languages. He has three books published with Burning Eye and his newest collection, Wonderful, is out NOW accompanied by a tour around the UK and Ireland. He is the only person to have sold out the Tom Thumb Theatre three nights in a row and was recently on the front cover of the Margate Mercury - it doesn't get better than that. Maria Ferguson is a writer and performer. Her poetry has been widely anthologised and published in Magma, The Rialto, The North and The Poetry Review. She has been a finalist of the Montreal International Poetry Prize and her debut collection, Alright, Girl? (Burning Eye, 2020), was Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes. On the stage, her one-woman show Fat Girls Don’t Dance (Oberon, 2017) won the Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Show; Essex Girl (Oberon, 2019) was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award and won Show of the Week at VAULT Festival. She has been commissioned by the Royal Academy of Arts, Stylist magazine, The Bronte Parsonage and BBC Radio. She is the Associate Producer of LIVEwire Poetry and teaches creative writing in a variety of settings. Her second poetry collection, Swell, will be published by Penguin in 2025 (and available at the gig!). Having outgrown our beloved birthplace of Forts, we are excited to be teaming up with ARK Cliftonville, a new cultural space in a former synagogue, with a functioning bar AND multiple toilets. come on.
