This workshop is suitable for those with basic screen printing experience who are looking to incorporate natural color into their practice. During the session, you will have the opportunity to experiment with cut-out paper stencils and create flat graphic shapes of your choice. Make a range of color test prints and a set of screen prints using natural colors. All materials and equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own ideas for a simple screen printed design using cut paper stencils and any plant materials you think may produce interesting colors. Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy, and aprons will be provided. While you may want to bring a packed lunch, teas, coffees, and biscuits will be available. This workshop is organized by Carousel Print Studio, a non-profit charity located at Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate. The studio is a bright, warm, and well-equipped printmaking facility with a focus on sustainability. The workshop will be led by Nell Smith, a renowned printmaker and textile artist with over 15 years of experience running workshops. Nell was recently awarded Arts Council funding to explore natural dyes and pigments for screen printing, and she is excited to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with participants.
