The Salon of the Refused - Oshawa is a literary event held at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa, celebrating works initially rejected from mainstream platforms. Inspired by the 1863 Salon des Refusés, this event honors marginalized communities often overlooked by society. Authors are welcome to present poems or micro-fiction that may have been undervalued by literary journals or competitions. Each participant will have up to ten minutes to share their work with a live audience. To express interest in participating, please contact Wayne Johnston at wajohnst@uoguelph.ca. This event, supported by Hometown Words: An Open Mic for Spoken Word, aims to provide a platform for voices that deserve recognition.
