The Safeguarding 3 - Designated Liaison Person (DLP) workshop is a crucial component of the Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme. Individuals appointed to the DLP role in a club must have completed the Safeguarding 1 Workshop and attend the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3-hour workshop. While it is permissible for one person to hold both the Club Children's Officer and DLP positions, separating these roles is recommended for best practice. The DLP is tasked with handling any child protection concerns within the organization and is responsible for reporting any suspicions or allegations of child abuse to the relevant authorities. The Designated Liaison Person should ideally be a senior figure within the club, but in cases where this is not feasible, the Club Children's Officer can assume the role provided the responsibilities are clearly defined. The adoption of the Sport Ireland Code by sports governing bodies and clubs has significantly enhanced the protection of young individuals and leaders. The upcoming Safeguarding 3 Online Workshop on the 18th of November 2024 will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Registered participants will receive the necessary course materials and access link via email a few days prior to the workshop. To ensure confidentiality, only registered attendees will be granted admission to the session. By signing up for this workshop, participants agree to share their name, email, and date of birth with Sport Ireland for certification purposes.
