Safe to Create is pleased to announce another round of In-Person Active Bystander Training Workshops, specifically designed for artists and arts workers in the tech and stage disciplines, including theatre, opera, dance, circus, film, music, and galleries/museums. These workshops will be held in Dublin on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Led by Professor Louise Crowley, Professor of Law at UCC and Director of the UCC Bystander Intervention Programme, and Olwen Dawe, a leading policy analyst and consultant, these sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to intervene safely and effectively to prevent harassment and discrimination in the arts and creative sectors. Bystander training has proven to be an effective method to empower individuals to address inappropriate behavior in the workplace, providing them with the necessary skills and motivation to intervene before it escalates. The workshops will cover strategies to deal with bullying and toxic behavior, using real-world examples and engaging scenarios to enhance learning. Participant feedback from past workshops has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising the clear and well-delivered training. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to making the industry better and create a safer and more inclusive working environment. Admission to the workshops is free of charge for anyone working in the arts and creative sectors in Ireland. Please note that the venue for the event in Dublin is yet to be confirmed.
