Step into the warm glow of a tropical night in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Hosted by Esmie’s Caribbean Fusion, Anansi & The Jerk Fire Pit: Tales from the Ashes is an enchanting Caribbean storytelling supper club at Temper & Brown. On Thursday 29th May (7:00–10:00 PM), Temper & Brown transforms into a bonfire under the stars. Enjoy a welcome cocktail, a three-course Caribbean feast, and an evening of live folklore. Inspired by Anansi – the clever trickster-spider of West African and Caribbean folklore – our storyteller will weave classic tales of wit and wisdom around a crackling fire, accompanied by rhythmic drums and island flavors.
What to Expect
Welcome Cocktail: Kick off the evening with a refreshing tropical cocktail (rum punch or sorrel, a Caribbean favorite) as you mingle by the fire and soak up the warm, festive atmosphere.
Three-Course Jerk Feast: Savor a hearty dinner infused with authentic Jamaican spices. The menu features jerk-marinated specialties – meats and vegetables seasoned with herbs, allspice, and fiery Scotch bonnet peppers – slow-cooked over the open pit for smoky depth. Each course is paired with Caribbean-inspired sides and a sweet tropical dessert.
Live Storytelling: Gather around the fire as our master storyteller brings Anansi’s tales to life. Listen to engaging West African and Caribbean folk stories – full of humor and heart – told in the spirit of island tradition.
Drums & Fire Pit: Feel the energy of the islands with live percussion. Traditional drumming circles and the crackle of the fire pit set the mood, encouraging everyone to share in the music and dance, just as communities have done for generations.
Rum Tasting: Sample a curated selection of fine Caribbean rums. Our guided tasting introduces you to different styles (gold, aged, spiced) with commentary on their flavors and origins – a perfect way to taste the spirit of the islands.

i recently returned to cadbury world after many years and i still love to see how the chocolate is made!

We made a dedicated trip and had a lovely few hours. There was lots to see with split levels that kept your interest. The penguins were nice, the octopus made an appearance and we would have loved to see more of the otters., we see the otters.. There is plenty to see, read and touch. My grand daughter loved it all, the turtle in the tunnel is beautiful . It was clean, and we had a great time, would definitely go back, staff were helpful,its really nice and deserve to be visited again and again.

For a smaller town the Art Museum as great. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it if you are traveling to Birmingham. Make sure to call ahead to see if they are open.

After we dropped off our luggage at the hotel, we had a big meal at a Michelin one-star restaurant, and then we began to get to know the city. First we came to Victoria Square, where a building imitating a Greek temple caught our eye. It turned out to be their town hall. Next to it was a beautiful Baroque building, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which was also free to visit. So we went in for a stroll. There were not many people, and the exhibits were quite rich, ranging from ancient Egypt to current art.

There are Chinese Super League, restaurants, and many other specialty restaurants to choose from.
It&#39;s not hard to find something to eat here.
However, the food at this restaurant was a bit disappointing.
