Fondazione Sozzani presenta in anteprima il libro Hungry Ghosts, con fotografie di Roger Ballen e testi di Gabriele Tinti. In Hungry Ghosts immagini e parole concorrono per rendere presente l’assente. Il titolo e l’impianto strutturale derivano dal Petavatthu (I racconti degli spiriti, letteralmente  spirito affamato”), una raccolta buddista di 51 poemi che evocano storie drammatiche di spettri e defunti irrequieti che soffrono a causa delle cattive azioni compiute nelle vite precedenti ma a cui è data una possibilità di redenzione. Il libro mantiene questa impostazione formale e contenutistica combinandola con la suggestione delle epigrafi del mondo antico. Le 51 poesie di Gabriele Tinti sono composte in forma di epigrammi che, in relazione alle immagini di Roger Ballen, costringono a fare i conti con il mistero della sete di trascendenza, con il desiderio e la paura per la morte e l’aldilà. Fondazione Sozzani presents a preview of the book Hungry Ghosts, with photographs by Roger Ballen and texts by Gabriele Tinti. In Hungry Ghosts images and words combine themselves to make present the absent. The title and the structure of the book come from Petavatthu (Tales of the Spirits, literally ‘hungry spirit’), a Buddhist collection of 51 poems that evoke dramatic stories of ghosts and restless dead who suffer because of the bad deeds of their previous lives but are given a chance for redemption. The book maintains this formal and content-based approach by combining it with the suggestion of epigraphs from the ancient world. Gabriele Tinti's 51 poems are composed in the form of epigrams which, in relation to Roger Ballen's images, force to reckon with the mystery of the thirst of transcendence, with the desire and fear for death and the afterlife.
