A lecture by Opulent Mobility artist and curator Larua Brody reimagining conventional narratives around disability and chronic illness. The day before the exhibition Opulent Mobilityopens at USC’s Hoyt Gallery on the Health Sciences Campus, artist and curator A. Laura Brody will discuss how conventional narratives around disability and chronic illness can be engaged and reimagined through artistic practice. From the history of adorning assistive devices such as wheelchairs and canes to contemporary artistic practices, Brody will help us imagine a world defined by disability-centered ethics and aesthetics.

My mom, youngest brother Luke &amp; I went here for the first time Summer of 2012 to celebrate my 8th grade graduation. I discovered this park because I grew up going to Six Flags St. Louis with my parents, friends, &amp; Luke as my home park frequently since I was about 8 years old &amp; became more of a thrill seeker first with SFSTL, then Six Flags Great America, and I  used to go on the Six Flags website because I was curious about seeing parks in other states &amp; seeing what kind of rides the other parks had to offer &amp; discovered Six Flags Magic Moutain as I was browsing &amp; thought this park looked like so much fun, which it really was! My mom took my youngest brother Luke to meet the Looney Tunes characters &amp; Hurricane Harbor waterpark since he wasn&#39;t tall enough yet to go on the major thrill rides while I went on lots of amazing rollerocasters with Val, someone who used to babysit for us whenever she was able to. We stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn right across the street from the park, took a picture of X2 which could be seen from our hotel, palm trees in the parking lot, &amp; our elevator had Looney Tunes characters on it which made the Hilton Garden Inn Unique! My dad was also excited for us because Six Flags Magic Mountain is the park featured in his favorite movie, National Lampoon&#39;s Vacation &amp; is only about an hour and 40 minutes from Santa Monica beach! Six Flags Magic Mountain is located in Valencia, California.
