The Ready To Go Orienteering (RTGO) course is a comprehensive training program designed for primary and post-primary school teachers, youth leaders, scout leaders, camp providers, and others interested in teaching the fundamentals of orienteering to beginners and young people. By participating in this course, individuals will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to introduce pupils and young people to the exciting sport of orienteering in a fun and engaging way.

This training course offers various benefits, such as providing participants with the necessary resources to incorporate orienteering into their school curriculum or group activities. It also equips them with the tools to progress pupils and young people from classroom lessons to participating in simple orienteering competitions and events. Additionally, participants will learn how to prepare their pupils or group for schools orienteering events in public parks and other orienteering fixtures in the South Dublin area.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a resource pack that includes games cards, sample maps, and controls. They will also have access to educational resources online, which can be easily downloaded and printed. Furthermore, DEIS schools that participate in the "Ready to Go Orienteering" training have the opportunity to receive a customised orienteering map of their school grounds at a nominal cost.

Dublin Castle has a long royal history and the attractions are worth visiting. The ticket price is only 8 euros (6 euros for those over 60 years old). Be warned, to walk all the way through takes about an hour and there are no busses that stop in the park- they only drive through and stop either side, but the park itself is beautiful and easy to spend that much time wandering in, the deer are usually in the upper end of the park after the cricket field, there are a few food carts dotted around and also Dublin zoo located in the park
