Discover the remarkable photographic legacy of Raymond Cooper at the upcoming event, "Raymond Cooper's Oakland: Q&A with Aja Cooper and Liam O'Donoghue." Raymond Cooper, a prominent photographer in Oakland during the 1970s and 80s, left behind a vast collection of images that were thought to be lost forever due to fire damage and theft. Fortunately, some of the images were recovered and are now being showcased for the first time in an exhibition organized by East Bay Photo Collective (EBPCO) in collaboration with the Cooper family. This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the recent history of Oakland, capturing the essence of the era through fashion, hairstyles, street scenes, and Cooper's innovative photographic techniques. Aja Cooper, Raymond's daughter, will share insights into the preservation of her father's work during a conversation with journalist Liam O'Donoghue. The event is made possible with the support of the Leonian Foundation and Underdog Film Lab. Join us at the Oakland Photo Workshop in Chinatown to explore this captivating exhibition, open on Fridays, Saturdays from noon to 6, and Sundays from noon to 3. Admission is free for all attendees.
