It fuses our expertise of method acting training with an ancient Chinese technique which is taking off in UK – from Olympic athletes to giants of stage and screen. And you can make it work for you. Your body is your instrument – and so is your mind. But life today blocks our natural energy inside, and creates stress, anxiety and an unresponsive body. Qigong is a set of simple exercises that can keep you grounded, alert, hopeful and purposeful, and give you more healthy stamina. Also we’ll pinpoint your personal areas of challenge before you even start to act, and cover simple exercises we’ll all do before we go into practicing scenes or monologues. So NeuroActing and Moonrise invite you to this one-of-a-kind, hands-on, nurturing workshop at Moonrise Studios in Yorkshire, perfectly located between Leeds and Harrogate. And we’ve set the schedule so that London actors can be here and back in a single day. What is Method Acting? Think of Method Acting as your secret weapon. And we can make it simpler than you think. It’s all about creating genuine, believable performances that casting directors and audition panels love to see. What is QiGong? QiGong is an ancient Chinese set of exercises that can help you master your life force energy. It involves simple, flowing movements that help you loosen up, calm your nerves, and get in the zone for your performance. You’ll learn to release emotional stress and find that perfect calm before hitting the stage. What to Expect We’ll kick things off with a fun questionnaire to discover your dominant Element according to traditional Chinese medicine —Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, or Metal. Don’t run away yet! This helps you to understand your unique ‘Acting Type’ which you project whenever you act, and it's what you need to know about yourself to keep yourself physically and mentally ready. Next, experienced instructors Deirdre and Ava will lead you through energising QiGong exercises. These movements help reduce anxiety, improve visualization, and sharpen your focus so you can absolutely crush your audition. Before lunch, we’ll break down the simple basics of Method Acting and assign you scenes to work on in the afternoon (or bring a monologue that you’ve worked up). After lunch, it’s showtime! You’ll work on your scene (especially suited to your ‘Element’, or your pre-learned monologue) under the careful guidance of Bryan – the Acting Sage, and put your new skills into action, gaining more focus, confidence, and self-expression. We’ll wrap up this amazing day with a relaxing sound bowl session, letting you unwind and soak in all the knowledge and experiences from the workshop.
