The Arts & Letters committee of the chapter is presenting this private screening, offering a thrilling opportunity to experience a bold and fresh take on the beloved classic. This highly anticipated film, directed by Blitz Bazawule, is a musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. It follows the inspiring journey of Celie, a young black woman who triumphs over a lifetime of challenges to find love and happiness.

The Color Purple features an exceptional cast, including Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, and Colman Domingo. As you attend, please wear shades of purple or Delta paraphernalia to show your support.

The event will take place on December 9th at the Regal Columbus theater on Constitution Drive in Virginia Beach. The doors open at 1:00 p.m., allowing you to capture memorable pictures on the red carpet before the private screening begins at 1:30 p.m. After the movie, there will be a thought-provoking post-screening discussion featuring Patrice Covington, an Emmy Award-winning Broadway star, and Lisa Godley, an Emmy Award-winning Television Producer and Show Host. Don't forget to stay for a group photo at the end.

In addition to enjoying this magnificent film, your ticket purchase will contribute to a noble cause. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Samaritan House, an organization in Virginia Beach that supports women affected by domestic violence.
