Experience the midday gathering of writers at the Poets Day Party at the National Harbor. Hosted by Dr. Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman, the 2023-2026 Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, Maryland, this event is a wonderful opportunity for writers based in Maryland's Prince George's County and the surrounding DMV area to come together. Taking place at the ArtsiNation Art Gallery in Washington, DC, located at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, this event is part of the Hurston/Wright Foundation's 2023 Legacy Awards Celebration Week. 

During this gathering, esteemed writers including ALAN W. KING, LADY DI, MISS KIANE, COLIE AZIZA, MIKO REED, KANIKKI JAKARTA, HARVEY FITZ MADELINE FARRINGTON, and SISTAH JOY ALFORD, the inaugural Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, MD, will share their work with the community. This gathering also serves as a networking event, allowing local writers to connect with each other and discover opportunities to feature their work in the area.

The Poets Day Party at the National Harbor is a free event open to the public and will include refreshments. Dr. Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman, the current Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, MD, is a highly accomplished author, playwright, and educator. As the Executive Director of the Hurston/Wright Foundation, she is dedicated to supporting Black Writers. This event is presented in part by the Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council, Hurston/Wright Foundation, and Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC). National Harbor is very hot, and there are many restaurants, such as fast food hot dogs, which are very suitable for eating while walking in the amusement park. It will be fun! The amusement facilities are relatively young and not too scary.
