In the swinging 60s, Arnold, known as Patricia Ann Cole at the time, embarked on a journey to escape her troubled home life in LA. As an Ikette with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, she traveled the world and found herself in London. It was there that she crossed paths with a young Mick Jagger, who introduced her to influential rock magnate Andrew Loog Oldham. This encounter sparked Arnold's solo career in the UK. Meanwhile, Gered Mankowitz had already established himself as a prolific photographer within the rock and roll scene. Working out of his studio in Mason's Yard, he had captured iconic images of legends like the Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, and the Rolling Stones. It was during this time that Mankowitz and Arnold first connected, forging a professional relationship that would yield some of the photographer's most striking work. Their friendship endured throughout the years. At the Iconic Images Gallery, Mankowitz and Arnold will share insights into their experiences as working artists in 60s London.
