Welcome to the Orchestra December Concert, an extraordinary event that celebrates Plymouth's exceptional connection to the surrounding waters. Organized by the University of Plymouth Orchestra, this is the first in a series of themed concerts that will captivate your senses. Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies inspired by Plymouth Sound, the rivers that flow into it, and the vast ocean beyond. The program encompasses a range of captivating compositions, including Amy Beach's "The Sea Fairies," Eric Coates' "Sleepy Lagoon," Antonín Dvořák's "The Water Goblin," George Frideric Handel's "The Water Music," Aram Khachaturian's "Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia," and Felix Mendelssohn's "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage."

The orchestra is comprised of the University of Plymouth's current and former students and staff, as well as members from the community. We gather every Thursday evening on the University Campus, and we warmly welcome new members to join us in the joy of making music together. The concert does not have an interval, but you are invited to join us for complimentary refreshments after the performance. This event is free to attend, with the option to provide a donation to support the orchestra's operational expenses.
