Join the Office of Police Oversight (OPO) for its first-ever Community Open House on Saturday, July 19th from 10am – 2pm at the Austin Central Library! This event is a special opportunity for Austinites to connect with the OPO staff, ask questions, and learn more about OPO’s role in promoting transparency, accountability, and building community trust with Austin police. 
  
At the Open House, OPO staff will help explain the oversight process, create space for open dialogue, and highlight how you can get involved in shaping the future of police oversight in Austin. 
  
What you’ll experience: 
Explore the complaint process: Learn how civilian complaints and compliments are submitted, reviewed, and analyzed—step by step. 
Meet our policy team: Discover how we use research, data, and national best practices to drive our policy recommendations. 
Hear from our Director, Gail McCant: Get insights into OPO’s mission, current initiatives, and future goals for oversight in Austin. 
Get involved in community initiatives: Learn how your feedback helps OPO collaborate with the community, increase awareness, promote transparency, and encourage meaningful dialogue around public safety. 
PLUS, free food, refreshments, and giveaways for attendees!

As an ordinary tourist, I thought the procedure to enter the Capitol Building was very complicated, but I didn&#39;t expect that I could enter and visit just by checking the bags I brought with me.
This building was built in 1885 and covers an area of ​​51 acres. It was designed by architect Elijah E Myer in imitation of the Capitol Building in Washington. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
It is amazing that the passage of time has not affected its appearance and internal structure at all. It is as new as ever. Visitors can visit the government offices and have time to visit the exterior of the building to appreciate this century-old building from all angles.
