In association with LA Phil Insight The library is closed, but you’re invited to step into an immersive after-hours world of stories, with interactive art pop-ups, surprising performances, conversations with diverse storytellers and artists, live music and DJs, drinks, and bites throughout the historic Richard J. Riordan Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles. The night will include performances by BodyTraffic, Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs' Distance Duet presented by LA Phil Insight, dublab, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Yesika Salgado, and Urban Voices Project, among others. Get creative with drawing classes offered by Heavy Manners Library, a photo booth with the Black Image Center, and screen printing with Color Compton. And yes, you can get a library card at the event! Celebrate the art and magic of storytelling at this first-ever, late-night party presented by Los Angeles institutions invested in the power of storytelling: the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Public Library,LAist, and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. This event is open to ages 21 and up. The Central Library of Los Angeles is truly a book lover&rsquo;s paradise. There is no ordinary library, and a large collection of books is within a gorgeous 1926 architectural masterpiece. The exterior of the art deco and its decorative sculptures are fantastic (must be seen at a level of eye-to-eye). Also, how many libraries have short story vending machines (cool and free) and gift shops. It&#39;s a must-see experience. Don&#39;t schedule yourself too tight because the interiors are artworks, endless rooms are full of amazing books, and the Roundhouse will fascinate you. My favorite is the children&#39;s reading room.

It is very convenient to go to the Observatory on your own. After getting off at Sunset Station on the Red Line of the subway, there is a free bus to the Observatory at the exit, which takes you directly to the gate of the Observatory. It runs every 20 minutes. It is expensive to park by car, and you have to walk a distance to reach the Observatory. You need to learn how to take the subway, which is convenient and free of traffic jams. Google Maps gives accurate directions, and Baidu Maps is also easy to use...
