Join the Creative Becoming community for the Monthly Open Mic - December 2023, a unique gathering where individuals from all walks of artistry come together to connect, collaborate, and share their creative expressions. This event offers a welcoming space for singers, instrumentalists, poets, beatboxers, writers, and performance artists to showcase their talent and foster connections. 

The Monthly Open Mic - December 2023 will take place on Friday, December 1st, 2023, at The Perch Music & Arts Studio located at 2321 Emerald Street, Philadelphia, PA 19125. This vibrant venue is equipped with a Steinway piano, microphones, Bluetooth speakers, guitars, bass, and ambient lighting, providing everything you need to bring your artistry to life. 

Doors open at 7pm, and the performances will commence at 7:30pm, concluding with the final artist at 9pm. Comfortable seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Light refreshments will also be provided. 

To participate, simply sign up at the door and receive a generous 10 minutes of stage time. No labels of "good," "ready," or "professional" are required; this event celebrates genuine passion and encourages performers to share their creations, conquer stage jitters, and connect with like-minded individuals.

I have to say that the Penn Museum is also a No. 1 museum. The exhibits are rich, unique, and academic. In particular, the Chinese national treasures in the Asian Pavilion are moving... The consulting service is also very satisfactory. The Egyptian Pavilion is under renovation, but some of the cultural relics have been merged into other pavilions. The national treasures of Mesopotamia in the Middle East and the Mayan Aztec civilization in New America are astonishing. There are really piles of ancient Greek and Roman cultural relics. The underground special exhibition even has an introduction to the U2 aircraft incident in 1960... In short, the Penn Museum is worth the trip!

Philadelphia was once the capital of the United States, so there is plenty of history, museums, monuments, and sites around the city. The Philadelphia Museum of Art boasts a nice array of exhibits. I visited on a Friday evening after work because museum admission is free Friday evenings (pay what you wish). I did pay for parking at their garage, which was only $5.

I feel that the attractions in downtown Philadelphia are really excellent. This monument near the Freedom Bell is unified and managed by National Park. Opposite the Freedom Bell is a large visitor center. Here you can consult the travel guide for Philadelphia. The staff and volunteers here are also very enthusiastic. Help to give travel advice and answer consultation questions. There is also a small souvenir shop here, you can buy refrigerator stickers, books, postcards and other related Philadelphia souvenirs. There is also an exhibition in the visitor center. Although it will be more mini-pocket than the museum, it still does not affect the number of tourists here. If you come by car, there is also a parking lot on the ground floor of the independent palace visitor center for everyone to park. Although parking in downtown Philadelphia is not very convenient, parking spaces are not very easy to find. I recommend everyone to come to the underground parking lot of the visitor center to park. If you come in peak season, you need to come to the visitor center to apply for the ticket for the visit of the Independence Palace first, but I don&rsquo;t know if it&rsquo;s because of the epidemic. You don&rsquo;t need to get a ticket when you come. You can enter the visit directly.

Liberty Bell

Needless to say, the fame of the Liberty Bell is so great that it feels like it can be a must-visit place in Philadelphia, just like the Independence Palace. It seems that every time I come to Philadelphia, I will repeat the ritual of checking in. The two are very close, just walk across the road. The exhibition hall is open to the public for free, and there is no need to buy tickets. The Independence Palace needs to be booked in advance on the official website, with a ticket booking fee of 1 yuan. The Liberty Bell has an independent exhibition hall for visiting, and the entrance requires security check. You can visit it up close and walk to the Liberty Bell. It was previously possible to circle 360 ​​degrees, but this time it was only open 180 degrees, and the other half was blocked, but the advantage is that you can unlock a Liberty Bell with no one in the background.

The Liberty Bell was originally in the palace of the Independence Palace, and then it was displayed in the memorial hall on the lawn because the bell body cracked. This time, the display stand at the visitor center was also empty. Another knowledge point was that cracks first appeared when it was transported to Philadelphia in 1752, and then after several repairs, there were still cracks, so they gave up repairing it. And it was this bell that rang on July 4, 1776. The Liberty Bell has also been relocated several times. Although the locations of each relocation were not far away, people were still worried that there would be more serious cracks. They also installed a micro-variable displacement sensor on the bell that can test the movement of one millionth of a meter to test whether it is suitable for relocation. Every visit seems to unlock different little knowledge points, which is probably one of the pleasures of traveling.
