Mito Azalea Festival, held at Kairakuen, Senbako Park and Mito City Forest Park from late April to early May, coinciding with the flowering period of azaleas. 380 types of azaleas, such as Kirishima azaleas and white bellflowers, bloom as expected, and Kairakuen is covered in a sea of ​​red and white flowers. In Mito City Forest Park, more than 10,000 mountain azaleas and Kurume azaleas bloom, creating a colorful spring-like atmosphere. Various events are held during the festival, including open-air tea parties.
