At the center of this extraordinary film is a 50-minute orchestral composition performed by the renowned Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, and the talented Australian tenor Ben Reynolds. Matt Ottley's genius shines through as he both wrote and orchestrated the music, complemented by guest composition from Alf Demasi. The event will be introduced by Jennie Orchard and followed by a fascinating Q&A session with Ottley himself.

Having received critical acclaim, "The Tree of Ecstasy and Unbearable Sadness" was honored with the 2023 Aurealis Awards and the (US) World Fantasy Awards, while the film itself received a Special Mention at the 2023 BolognaRagazzi CrossMedia Award. Ottley's previous works have also garnered recognition, including the CBCA's Picture Book of the Year Award and various state premier's awards. As an accomplished composer and Yamaha-endorsed musician, Ottley has composed scores for many of his picture books, which have been performed by orchestras and musicians across Australia and around the world. This extraordinary project is part of Ottley's larger initiative, The Sound of Picture BooksTM.
