The day of worshiping the community is called "Community Day". Influenced by this, Shaoxing still retains village names such as "Ruanshe" and "Gushe". Like many local operas, the performance venues of community opera are generally divided into grass stage and temple stage. In the old days, every village or region had a "Bodhisattva Temple" and a birthday for the Bodhisattva, so you could often see community plays on these temples. Community plays usually required offerings to the gods, so Lu Xun said in his article "The Female Hanging": "What I know is that in Shaoxing forty years ago, there were no high-ranking officials, so there was no drama specifically for people (Tanghui). Every play always had a bit of "community play nature", offerings to the gods were the main purpose of watching the play, and people went to watch it just to take advantage of the show."

In the Jiangnan water town of Shaoxing, the Keyan Scenic Area is a picturesque spot. The entire area encompasses Keyan Scenic Area, Jianhu Lake, and Lu Town.

Entering Keyan, the striking sight is the 20.8-meter-tall Tiangong Giant Buddha, a seated Maitreya Buddha. Crafted by three generations of Sui Dynasty stonemasons over a century, the statue is constructed entirely of stone. With his left hand resting on his knee and his right raised in the &quot;Dharma Seal,&quot; his expression of compassion seems to soothe the troubles of the world. Contrasting the Tiangong Giant Buddha is Yungu, the &quot;world&#39;s finest stone.&quot; From a distance, it resembles a wisp of smoke rising into the sky, its unique form showcasing the wonders of nature.

The ancient towpath on Jianhu Lake resembles a jade belt floating on the waves, carving the surface of the lake into a long, ink-wash scroll. Riding aboard a black-sailed boat, the boatwoman paddling with her feet, the boatwoman&#39;s leisurely pace evokes a few egrets, their wings brushing against the reeds. One feels transported to the scene described in Wang Xizhi&#39;s &quot;Preface to the Lanting Anthology&quot;: &quot;The sky is clear, the air is fresh, and the breeze is gentle.&quot; Lu Town, on the other hand, vividly recreates the scenes of life described by Lu Xun. The wine jars at the Xianheng Hotel are still neatly arranged. The blue-brick alleys are deep and quiet, with old shops scattered around in an orderly manner. A rich atmosphere of history and cultural charm permeates the area.

The garden isn&#39;t large, but the scenery is beautiful, making it a pleasant stroll. There&#39;s a small shop selling culturally inspired ice cream not far from the entrance, with a decorative exterior that makes it a great place for photos. Reading the poems of Lu You and Tang Wan, I felt the helplessness and regret of their time, and imagined their reunion, which brought a touch of sadness. Parking is quite convenient; just navigate to the main gate (Lu Xun Middle Road) and don&#39;t choose any other gates.

The scenic area was lightly visited during the May 1st holiday, making it a great off-peak travel option. The Wupeng Boat, Bird Park, and Dayu Mausoleum are all excellent attractions with few crowds and beautiful scenery. It was a satisfying trip.
