Join artist and illustrator Abbie Lois for an in-person Lino Print Workshop, where participants will delve into the captivating realm of mythical beasts. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to immerse oneself in the art of lino printmaking. Abbie will guide attendees through the process, providing an introduction to the materials, tools, and methodology involved.

Lino printing is a hands-on technique that involves drawing a design onto a linoleum surface and carving it out using specialized tools. Ink is then rolled onto the carved lino, and the design is pressed onto various surfaces, such as paper or fabric.

During the workshop, each participant will have the chance to create their own printed cotton tote bag. Additionally, they can take their carved linoleum home to continue using their design if desired. No previous experience is necessary, as all materials will be provided, including imagery for inspiration. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own imagery for inspiration.

To ensure a comfortable experience, it is advisable to wear clothes that can withstand a little mess. However, the ink used is water-based and can easily be washed off if it comes into contact with clothing.

Light refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop. The Boiler Room at The Hidden Gardens, located in Glasgow, will host this event. Access is convenient via Tramway. In the event that Tramway is closed, attendees can access the venue through a lane on Pollokshaws Road, next to Scottish Ballet. The nearest station is Pollokshaws East.

We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the &ldquo;old fashioned house&rdquo; and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.

We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.
