Nina Stössinger, a Senior Typeface Designer at Frere-Jones Type and a type design instructor at Yale, will be the featured speaker at the twenty-sixth Standing-Room Only Lecture titled "Letters from Outside the Bubble." Taking place at the Katherine Small Gallery in Somerville on January 25, 2024, this event will delve into the captivating world of visual notes from Nina's urban wanders in search of unexpected letterforms.

During her presentation, Nina will share her observations and insights on foreign and unfamiliar letterforms encountered during her journeys. From decayed to brand new, and from barely legible to hardly legal, these letterforms have a range of characteristics that make them intriguing and powerful. By exploring the vibrant life beyond our geographic, social, and professional bubbles, Nina will remind us of the endless possibilities and inspiration that lie just outside our comfort zones.

The Standing-Room Only Lectures are designed to provide concise talks on graphic design, typography, and collecting.
