Experience the UK premiere of the Kukal Quartet at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London on May 2, 2024. As part of the Year of Czech Music 2024, the Czech Centre is proud to present the Kukal Quartet, a group of four talented musicians named after renowned composer Ondřej Kukal. Formed in 2020, the quartet has swiftly garnered acclaim, including accolades at the prestigious Prague Spring Competition. Comprising Eliška Kukalová and Klára Lešková on violins, Daniel Macho on viola, and Filip Rufer on violoncello, the quartet showcases their vibrant musical expression and distinctive ensemble dynamics. The programme for the evening will feature compositions such as Schulhoff's Five Pieces, Sylvie Bodorová's Shorafot, Smetana's Quartet No. 2, and a selection of Dvořák's Cypresses. This event is made possible through a partnership with the Leamington Music Festival and support from the Czech Recovery Plan, Ministry of Culture Czech Republic, European Union, Arts and Theatre Institute, SoundCzech, and Vazny zajem Society.
