Astana’s got style — skyscrapers, futuristic vibes, and some hidden gems 🌃✨ If you’re short on time, here’s how I squeezed the best out of two days!
Must-See Places:
Baiterek — a city icon you can’t skip! Located at 4CHJ+86C, Astana 01000. Open nearly all day (10:00-22:00, with short midday breaks). Tip: Go up to the observation deck and actually put your hand on the golden imprint. It’s said to bring good luck, plus you get a 360° city panorama.
Atyrau Bridge — especially stunning in the evening, when lights reflecting off the Ishim River set the mood. Perfect for photos or a chill stroll.
Stay at Reikartz Park Astana ex-Royal Park Hotel & Spa — Kerey and Zhanibek Khans St 18. Central, super convenient for hitting all the main sights. The friendly multilingual staff made everything easy (Chinese or English if you need), rooms are large and quiet, and breakfasts really hit the spot before a busy day.
Top Astana Tips:
Revisit spots at night for a serious glow-up—especially Baiterek and the bridge.
Transport: Yandex Go taxi app is reliable and affordable; otherwise, the city’s buses are simple to hop on.On buses, you can ask someone to pay with a Caspi card or give it in cash. The fare is 110 tenge. Just be careful, do not ask schoolchildren to do this, otherwise your fare will cost zero rubles and it says schoolboy) Be sure to take a QR picture on your phone, once they asked, there are controllers on the buses.
Money: Cash or card Kaspi.
Weather: Layers! Winds blow strong and temps change fast.
Food recs: Venture to nearby cafes—try Kazakh beshbarmak or the city’s pastry shops. Breakfast at the hotel is hearty, so don’t skip it!
