Created with great effort by a team from Japan, the birthplace of Ukiyo-e, an art feast that blends tradition and innovation is about to unfold!
The exhibition "Ukiyo-e in Motion" brings together classic paintings by Ukiyo-e masters from the Edo to Meiji periods, including Hokusai Katsushika, Kuniyoshi Utagawa, Hiroshige Utagawa, Utamaro Kitagawa, Sharaku Toshusai, and Kunisada Utagawa, with over 300 authentic and representative works on display.
The exhibition combines the display of physical famous paintings with beautiful and dazzling 3D CG animation, projection mapping technology, and original music with a strong Japanese style to create a fully immersive interactive space.
Visitors are not just "looking at paintings" but "walking into" the world of Ukiyo-e in person - wandering through the streets and alleys of ancient Edo, feeling the heroic figures of samurai, the elegance of courtesans, and the wonders of scenic spots, and experiencing a visual and sensory cultural festival.

Exhibition Area 1: Origin of Charm
This section explores the birth and development of Ukiyo-e, from Edo-period urban culture to the creative journeys of Ukiyo-e masters. This section provides a deeper understanding of how Ukiyo-e shaped and reflected the society and landscape of Japan at the time. You'll witness how Ukiyo-e transcended traditional artistic boundaries, capturing the beauty and emotions of everyday life and profoundly influencing subsequent generations.
Exhibition Area 2 Scenic Spots - View
Scenic spots take you into the vision of Ukiyo-e masters, immerse yourself in the Edo scenery depicted by Utagawa Hiroshige and the magnificent scenery in Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji", and experience the artistic charm of Japan's famous scenic spots.
Exhibition Area 3 Flower Beauty-Li
In this magnificent space, admire the beauty of flowers and women, beloved since ancient times. Blooming flowers complement the beautiful women of Ukiyo-e, capturing Kitagawa Utamaro's delicate gestures and emotions, including joy, anger, sadness, and happiness. His innovative art of bijin-ga elevates the expression of women's grace and emotions to new heights.
Section 4: Water Scenery - Taki
Explore the magnificent waterscapes of Hokusai Katsushika's "A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces," and experience the power and transformation of water, from gentle trickles to breathtaking cascades. Through varying shades of blue, the master of Ukiyo-e masterfully depicts the thickness and dynamics of water, showcasing the unique interpretations of water by various artists, creating a visual and sensory experience of "water expression."
Exhibition Area 5: Edo Style-Blue
Explore the myriad forms of water depicted in Ukiyo-e paintings—waves, rain, and the fusion of rivers and seas. Through immersive imaging technology, the insight and brushstrokes of Ukiyo-e masters capturing the fleeting transformations of water are recreated. In this dreamlike, indigo-hued space, viewers will experience the power and beauty of water, and the allure of the "expression of water" that Japanese artists pursued throughout their lives.
Exhibition Area 6: Edo Traces - Tour
This exhibition features a collection of precious authentic Ukiyo-e works, including classic pieces that allow you to appreciate the essence of Edo-period art up close. Furthermore, the exhibition area features recreational amusement facilities from the Edo period, allowing you to experience the entertainment of the time firsthand and appreciate the fun and charm of Ukiyo-e in a joyful atmosphere.
Exhibition Area 7: Charm of Nature - Color
This section explores the natural beauty of Ukiyo-e bird and flower paintings, meticulously depicting the vibrant changing seasons. Through sophisticated animation techniques, the flowers, birds, and natural scenery in these paintings come alive, capturing the dynamic and rhythmic beauty of every brushstroke and color. These paintings convey a deep love and reverence for nature, allowing visitors to experience the unique natural aesthetic and harmony of Japan.

This section showcases Ukiyo-e prints in a dynamic manner, capturing their wild energy and movement. From Utagawa Kuniyoshi's "Water Margin" series to the intense scenes of warriors and sumo wrestling, these works create a powerful visual impact with bold yet delicate brushstrokes.
Exhibition Area 9: Reappearance of Elegant Art
Ukiyo-e, a representative form of popular art from the Edo period, has evolved with the times and continues to influence us today. This exhibition area recreates its essence through an elegant and opulent visual space, showcasing the Japanese people's keen sense of beauty and delicate expression, and explores how ukiyo-e has inspired modern design, popular culture, and lifestyle aesthetics.

The British Consulate in Takao is located at No. 20, Lianhai Road, Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It sits on Gushan Mountain, on the north shore of Kaohsiung Harbor. It is bordered by steep cliffs on the east, west, and south sides, and borders Gushan Mountain to the north, creating a unique landscape with mountains behind and the sea in front, surrounded by water on three sides. The building served as the official residence of the British Consul during the Qing Dynasty. Construction began in 1866 under the design and supervision of the British Army Engineering Department and was completed in 1879. It is the oldest surviving modern Western-style building in Taiwan.

Suzuka Circuit Park in Kaohsiung was fantastic! We had a great time exploring all the rides and attractions. The park was clean, well-maintained, and offered fun experiences for both kids and adults. Staff members were friendly and helpful. The racing-themed activities added excitement and made our visit memorable. Definitely recommend it for families or anyone looking for a fun-filled day!

Liuhe Night Market is Kaohsiung&#39;s most iconic night market. Even though we were only in Kaohsiung for a quick nap, we still made time to visit and even booked a hotel nearby.

As Taiwan&#39;s second-largest night market, Liuhe Night Market naturally offers a wide variety of snacks, desserts, cold drinks, and more&mdash;foodies will definitely want to enjoy it. The night market is very close to Formosa Boulevard and is open from 6 pm to 2 am, so you can skip dinner and head straight in with an empty stomach.
