Jokes at the Folk is back at the Folk Hall in York on Friday 15th November with more stars from the UK comedy circuit.Duncan Oakley is a multi-award-winning comedian who headlines at theatres, comedy clubs and festivals all over the country. He was voted English Comedian of the Year in 2015 and Midlands Comedian of the Year in 2016, and he’s a regular on BBC Radio 4. The Yorkshire Post says he’s “pure brilliance.” Ant Dewson is back with a brand new set. A comedy writer for BBC Radio 4 and Sky TV, he also performs on BBC Radio London and hosts a regular show on Riverside Radio. The Fringe Podcast, Three Weeks and The Skinny all gave his Edinburgh Show four stars, and Tom Robinson from BBC 6 Music called him “the highlight of the night.” Dawn Bailey is a regular at all the big comedy clubs from Hot Water in Liverpool to Backyard in London. She’s been XS Radio Manchester’s Comedian of the Year and is “a very funny lady” according to the BBC. At a recent show in the Midlands, Notts Comedy Review said she “took the roof off!” Jon Pearson was named Midlands Compère of the Year in both 2021 and 2022. He won Best Improv/Music Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival and he’s done sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Nottingham Comedy Festival. His radio appearances include Black Label (BBC Radio 4) and the Ed Fringe Review called him “a natural.” There’s a fully stocked bar, plus a huge range of sweets, crisps and snacks available.
