Watercolour Workshop inspired by JMW Turner x In Demand MCR a monthly workshop series inspired by the J.M.W. Turner exhibition. These relaxed sessions are perfect for beginners or anyone refreshing their painting skills. Learn to build a beginner palette, mix colours with confidence, and explore key colour theory using professional-grade watercolours. Each workshop includes indoor practice, drawing in Whitworth Park, and a friendly group review. Paper and pencils will be provided. Come along to one session or join monthly to develop your technique and confidence. Inspired by the ongoing J.M.W. Turner exhibition, each session draws from his masterful use of light, atmosphere, and colour. We’ll begin with guided exercises using a beginner-friendly palette and professional-grade watercolours, focusing on mixing techniques and the basics of colour theory. Expect to build confidence in your brushwork while exploring a variety of mark-making techniques. Weather permitting, we’ll head into the beautiful surroundings of Whitworth Park for observational drawing and plein air painting, before returning for an informal group review and discussion to support your development in a friendly, creative setting. The Bridge of Sighs (Oxford University, UK) is officially called Hertford Bridge. It is a famous attraction at Oxford University. The construction of the Bridge of Sighs began in 1913 (completed in 1914). It crosses New College Road and connects the old and new parts of Hertford College. It is a famous attraction at Oxford University. It was designed by Sir Thomas Jackson. Because the bridge is similar to the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, Italy, it is called the Bridge of Sighs. I came to Oxford University with a tour group and could only take a quick look.
