For over four decades, Chakaia Booker has cut, coiled, and contorted tires, sculpting the industrial waste into spectacular abstract forms. Booker uses discarded tires both as a commentary on cultural histories and experiences and as a sustainable practice. Salvaging the tires avoids their disposal into landfills, where they trap and emit methane gas that pollutes the environment and contributes to global warming. Her works encourage us to consider the history of the material of tires as well as the effect rubber can have on our future.
Three monumental wall relief sculptures—Acid Rain (2001), Echoes in Black (Industrial Cicatrization) (1996), and It’s So Hard to Be Green (2000)—are presented. Each sculpture spans 20 to 21 feet wide and features a mass of curled bands of tire rubber, some interspersed with spiky shards, coiled strips, and loops made from inner tubes. Booker’s six-part photogravure series Foundling Warrior Quest (II 21C) (2010) showcases the artist as a mythical being foraging in a harsh, industrial landscape.

The National Art Gallery is located in Washington, DC and is managed by the Smiths Association. The building itself is divided into two buildings, with underground passages that can be connected or across the road from the ground, and a sculpture park is also included. Museum visits are free and are closed on Sundays. Originally, it was a pity to find that the Leonardo&#39;s real artifact was not open. There are more than 40,000 products in the entire pavilion, from the Middle Ages to the modern era, oil paintings, sculptures, prints, sketches and so on. It takes about an hour to visit here, there is a coffee shop inside, you can take a map to see the specific location.

I heard that the White House has not been open to the public since 9/11. When we went there, we could only watch it from a distance outside the fence, so the White House became a boring landmark. We took a tourist check-in photo to end our visit.

There is a big pine tree on the south side of the White House. I didn&rsquo;t expect it to be a &quot;landmark&quot; as well, the &quot;National Christmas Tree&quot;... Well, it seems that we should choose to visit during Christmas.

It is free to make an appointment to visit the Congress Hall, but the number of visitors per day is limited. It is best to make an appointment in advance. We went at 9:30 in the morning. They will give you a white strip to stick on your clothes (see the white one on my mother&#39;s chest in Figure 1, and the green one is from the Library of Congress). There is only one time period with Mandarin explanation. I thought it was a Chinese, but it turned out to be a foreign girl. I was quite surprised. I thought she could speak Chinese, but it turned out that she spoke English and translated it into Mandarin for us using translation software! Can&#39;t they find a Chinese American to serve? But what should I do? The girl was very friendly and took a photo with us!

The Capitol is a must-visit stop in Washington. The entire building is also very magnificent and distinctive. It is a pearl-white marble building. The three-story flat-top building has a three-story dome in the center. The sculpture on the top of the Capitol is the goddess of freedom.

The Library of the Capitol is also suitable for checking in together. Most museums in Washington are open to the public for free.

Between Capitol Hill and the Washington Monument, there is a long and narrow green space, which is the National Mall of the United States. There are many national museums and memorials around the square. Each venue is very interesting and you can spend half a day visiting a single place.

If you don&#39;t have enough time, it&#39;s also good to take pictures. These buildings have different shapes, and taking pictures and checking in are very photogenic.
