Join us for a fun session to discover the history of the Thames
A chance to get onto the foreshore at Rotherhithe and find archaeological artefacts revealed by the River Thames. Who knows what will be discovered - smoking pipes, drainpipes, pottery, bones…? There is lots of evidence of London's past to be found. Money raised from these sessions supports the development and delivery of our schools’ programmes.
We will be meeting at the front of the Brunel Museum, Railway Ave, Rotherhithe, London SE16 4LF, where we will take a short walk to the stone steps leading to the foreshore. Note: the last few steps onto the foreshore can be extremely slippery - please make good use of the handrail.
A note to our regular participants: walks on different days will start and finish at different times depending on the tide and weather conditions. See above for the times of this walk.

Booking is essential. Children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum age for children is 8 years). Maximum of 2 children per adult.

Cancellations
Full refunds for cancellations received with seven or more days notice. Cancellations received with less than seven days notice qualify for a 50% refund. Cancellation requests MUST be via email to 
office@thames-explore.org.uk

Health and Safety
We recommend you bring waterproof gloves. Although this is not compulsory it is important to cover broken skin ie eczema, cuts etc. Wear sensible footwear e.g. wellies, old trainers or walking boots – no sandals, high heels or bare feet· Please bring hand-sanitizer as there may be no local hand-washing facilities - wash your hands with soap and water at the first available opportunity·
Artefact policy
Thames Explorer developed our artefact policy almost a decade ago after seeing people removing wholesale quantities of artefacts from the foreshore. We encourage all to adhere to the following principal: that you take only photographs, knowledge and memories and not artefacts themselves. Doing this helps preserve the historic nature of the Thames foreshore and the unique experience of mudlarking.

On May 21, I took the elderly to visit the British Museum, and the tour guide service was warm and professional. If you visit the museum without a tour guide, it may be completed in half an hour. The main reason is that the historical geography has not been learned well. Under the tour guide&#39;s explanation, the three hours feel very fast. This is the second time I have decided to come to the British Museum for the tour guide service of Trip.com . I still feel that the meaning is still not enough. 🏰 Westminster Abbey, it&#39;s really shocking! 📍 It&#39;s located in central London, close to the Parliament Building and Big Ben. The church is a prominent representation of British Gothic architecture, towering spires, exquisite carvings and beautifully painted glass windows, each detail shows an unparalleled artistic charm. Walking into the church, as if through time and space, is the holy place of the crowning of the British royal family, witnessing countless important moments in history. It is also a resting place for many celebrities, and great figures such as Newton, Darwin, Dickens have slept here, making people respect their contributions. Walking around, you can feel the solemnity of religion and the deep historical and cultural heritage. The church&#39;s Henry VII chapel is exquisite, with a fan-shaped arched roof and densely carved decorations, like a fairy tale fairyland. Whether it is an architecture lover or a historical and cultural fan, Westminster Abbey is definitely worth a visit. I believe you will be deeply impressed by its charm like me. 💕 highly recommend it to everyone! 💕

The Queen&#39;s favorite palace is very luxurious, but it is not allowed to take pictures. It can only be taken outside. When entering, a photo was taken and was stopped by the staff. Knowing the life of the royal family, Windsor Castle is generally very quiet.
