Honey Bones Art Club, held every Saturday morning at HONEY BONES Gallery in Brunswick, VIC, is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of art therapy. The group sessions provide a supportive and empowering space for individuals to express, explore, and experiment with various art-making prompts and materials. Unlike traditional art-making spaces, there is no pressure or instruction on how to create art. Instead, participants are encouraged to find their own artistic voice and create without limitations. Each week, a prompt is offered to encourage self-reflection and personal growth. Themes may range from focusing on strengths and individuality to addressing areas in need of support and energy. The sessions are facilitated by arts therapist and community facilitator, Don Fazliu, who introduces the Art Club and ensures the comfort of every participant throughout the session. At the end of each session, participants come together to share their artworks and insights, fostering a sense of connection and mutual support. Art Club is open to all members of the community, regardless of artistic skill, as the belief is that everyone has an innate artist within them. The sessions take place in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by chilled beats and the occasional visit from the gallery dogs, Ace and Fury. Please note that this is an 18+ event and seats are provided by cushions on the floor. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with one step to enter through the roller door.
