You're in the right place - we love introducing people into the world of calisthenics and would be happy to help get you going with our free taster session. What is Calisthenics in a nutshell?In short, calisthenics is a combination of bodyweight exercise such as: PullupsDipsRowsPushupsLeg raises... and gymnastics strength skills like: HandstandsMuscle-upsHuman flagLeversPlancheYou can start working towards all of this and more; we're only just scratching the surface of what calisthenics has to offer, but you'll have to come and see for yourself! Whether you're sold on the impressive skills, simply wish to build some functional strength, or just want to give calisthenics a try, our taster session is a great place to start. I highly recommend Tom and Emma's classes to anyone who wants to work on strength and calisthenics. I didn't have an athletic background and initially thought I wouldn't be able to build strength or calisthenics skills. Tom and Emma are both extremely knowledgeable, and have given me really comprehensive advice. That combined with their encouragement has got me from struggling to hang on a bar to full pull-ups which was hugely satisfying for me.Henrietta Klein ★★★★★ During our 1 hour taster session, you will practice:Key beginner calisthenics skills We will help you to explore movement, coordination and stability by introducing you to the gymnastics rings along with some basic inversion drills (upside down stuff!) on the floor. Fundamental bodyweight exercises We will show you how to build functional, powerful strength that will set you up for success in calisthenics and, in the long term, reward you with incredible health benefits. Conditioning drills We will also include strengthening for some smaller areas of the body that are often overlooked but are equally as important to work on, both for calisthenics purposes and your overall health. Targeted stretching We will finish off by stretching common areas of stiffness which, when practiced regularly, will help to improve your movement and avoid pain or injury. Who is it for?Our taster session is designed for beginners, whether you're an absolute beginner who has never tried calisthenics before, or you've given it a go but aren't well practiced. Everything we work on during the session can be adapted to your ability and fitness level. Please note: our taster sessions are only for those who've not worked with us before. If you already have, please allow others the opportunity to join our taster instead, or better yet recommend it to someone you know! Where is it?This taster session will take place at Wild Park Calisthenics Gym, a well equipped outdoor gym on the outskirts of Brighton towards Stanmer Park. Free car parking is available at Wild Park main entrance. Please note that the Wild Park toilets are often closed so there is usually no access to toilets or water! Who are we?We're Tom and Emma, the couple behind Calisthenics Brighton and huge enthuesiasts for calisthenics, movement and fitness. We offer calisthenics classes and coaching in Brighton, both indoors and outdoors with our main location at FMG Gym in the North Laines. Our mission is to build a calisthenics community accessible to anybody, working together and encouraging each other towards quality movement and inspiring feats of strength alike in a fun, positive environment.
