By exploring this connection, Professor Jackson offers a compelling explanation for the library's distinctive and enigmatic features at the Glasgow School of Art. 

Professor Neil Jackson is an esteemed architect, architectural historian, and Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University of Liverpool. His extensive research on 19th and 20th-century architecture includes a current study on Josiah Conder, widely regarded as the "father of modern Japanese architecture." Professor Jackson has published seminal works such as "Japan and the West: An Architectural Dialogue" (2019) and contributed essays to notable publications like "Sir Banister Fletcher's Global History of Architecture" (2020) and "Setting the Scene: Perspectives on Twentieth Century Theatre Architecture" (2015). In 2017, he led the 20th-Century Society's tour of Japan.
