GR gallery is thrilled to present 'FORGE', the inaugural solo exhibition of Corran Brownlee, a talented Canadian artist. This highly anticipated event will take place in the vibrant city of New York, marking Brownlee's first solo presentation with GR gallery. The exhibition will showcase 15 captivating paintings, which includes 5 pieces from last year that served as the inspiration for the new works. Brownlee's exploration of profound moments of change, both internal and external, will be brought to life through a range of medium to large-scale paintings created using oil, acrylic, and inks. This exhibition signifies a new chapter in Brownlee's artistic journey, as growth and evolution are integral to his creative process.

The opening reception for 'FORGE' will be held on Friday, December 15, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with the exhibition running from December 16, 2023, to January 13, 2024. Members of the press are invited to contact GR gallery in advance to arrange a private viewing or schedule an interview. Additionally, the artist himself will be in attendance at the vernissage, offering a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to engage with the creator behind the captivating artworks.

GR gallery is located at 255 Bowery, nestled between Houston and Stanton in New York, NY 10002. While Brownlee has primarily worked with black and white tones in the past, 'FORGE' introduces a vibrant color palette that evokes fire, lava, the sun, embers, heat, space, water, ice, and love. This infusion of color creates a more abstract world where figures and bunnies, often seen in Brownlee's body of work, move closer to the surface, inviting a deeper connection with the viewer. The art exudes heightened emotions and intensified movement, with a complex beauty that stems from the unexpected.

In conjunction with 'FORGE', the project room at GR gallery will present a curated selection of four new works by the Japanese artist collective 3 (three). Established in Fukushima in 2019, this collective of three artists creates thought-provoking three-dimensional artworks and installations that explore the contradictions within contemporary society. Through the reconstruction of manga and anime-inspired figurines, 3 challenges our reception of knowledge in the age of technology and the impact it has on our ability to process information.
