Printmaking has played a central role in the development of the visual arts in modern Mexico, from early devotional engravings of the 1600s to the satirical lithographs of José Guadalupe Posada around 1900. The Muralist movement was inspired by Posada’s “calaveras” (animated skeletons), the Virgin of Guadalupe, and other Christian and nationalist images made popular in prints. Closely intertwined with the advancement of democracy, human rights, and Indigenous cultural identity, printmaking became the primary medium of political engagement in Mexico. Throughout the Mexican Revolution (1910–20), the Spanish Civil War (1936–39), and World War II (1939–45), printmaking was at the forefront of art and politics in Mexico.

Although this is not the small exhibition with the widest collection I have ever seen, the exhibits are indeed selected and the building itself is excellent - especially when it is cold or rainy. Also, it is free admission and worth a visit!

The Plaza de Armas in Santiago, the capital of Chile, was a bit scary when I read the guide before I went there. It said there would be riots, thieves, robberies, etc., so I was very cautious. They said that mobile phones and cameras could not be exposed, which made us panic. When we got there, we really didn&#39;t dare to take out our mobile phones. Seeing that the church was very beautiful, we took it out and took a picture and quickly put it back in our pockets. Later, we entered the church and walked around the square. It didn&#39;t feel as scary as what was written on the Internet! Then we saw someone on the balcony of the museum next to it, so we went in. The museum is free, but you have to deposit your bags. You have to use a one-yuan coin to store your own locker. There is a room upstairs where you can climb to the balcony of the bell tower on the top floor, but you have to wait for about 20 minutes. People inside can take a group up, about 6 people at a time, because the stairs are very narrow and only one person can go through. When you get up there, you can take the last picture overlooking the church, which feels good.
