Experience the magic of the Fluorescent Forest at the official Roots & Wings Festival Pop-up Event in Austin. Join us on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 6-9 PM at Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park. Explore the enchanting ecosystem of Circle Acres and discover the hidden wonders of the nocturnal forest.

Using UV flashlights and cameras, we will embark on a thrilling bioblitz and scavenger hunt, searching for night pollinators, birds, glowing plants, fungus, lichens, and more. This event is a celebration of fungi's pivotal role in transforming a former dumpsite into a thriving urban forest. Learn how these fascinating organisms assist plants in obtaining water and nutrients, create vibrant flower colors, and facilitate communication with pollinators.

In addition to our exploration, the event offers an opportunity to visit the trees planted for the Healthy Soils, Healthy Trees research project. Discover the secrets of building healthy soil using recycled mushroom blocks. Witness demos on inoculating logs to cultivate mushrooms and breaking down logs to return nutrients to the soil.

Don't forget to dress in glowing outfits and face paint to enhance the experience. Bring your camera and tripod to capture the stunning fluorescent displays. Discover how certain plants, mushrooms, lichens, and insects have evolved to display color patterns visible in the ultraviolet spectrum.

As an ordinary tourist, I thought the procedure to enter the Capitol Building was very complicated, but I didn&#39;t expect that I could enter and visit just by checking the bags I brought with me.
This building was built in 1885 and covers an area of ​​51 acres. It was designed by architect Elijah E Myer in imitation of the Capitol Building in Washington. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
It is amazing that the passage of time has not affected its appearance and internal structure at all. It is as new as ever. Visitors can visit the government offices and have time to visit the exterior of the building to appreciate this century-old building from all angles.
