The Blue Description Project (BDP) is a noteworthy audio description and captioning project centered around Derek Jarman's influential film, Blue (1993). Produced by Cripistemology and the Arts in collaboration with Voices in the Gallery, the BDP aims to enhance the accessibility of Blue through expanded and critical means. This initiative aligns with Jarman's own words from his book, Chroma (1994), where he encouraged readers to contribute their insights and perspectives. Building upon this invitation, BDP presents a fresh and experimental iteration of Blue on the occasion of its 30th anniversary and Jarman's passing. The BDP iteration incorporates creative captions and audio descriptions sourced from numerous contributors. Through these efforts, it seeks to convey, express, engage, respond, evoke, articulate, replicate, translate, transmogrify, channel, and transcend the essence of Blue and its potentiality.
