Prince Gong&#39;s Mansion was first built in the 41st year of Emperor Qianlong&#39;s reign (1776). It was originally the residence of the powerful minister Heshen, and later became the residence of Prince Qing Yonglin, the younger brother of Emperor Jiaqing. In the first year of Emperor Xianfeng&#39;s reign (1851), Prince Gong Yixin became the owner and the mansion got its name from him.
