Gallery: Main Gallery & Small Object Space Works from five leading Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centres have been brought together for a landmark showcase in the Main Gallery, presenting contemporary objects and textiles that blend ancient practices, storytelling and modern materials.
Exploding with colour, life and joy, this is a rare opportunity to experience the vibrancy of works from multiple centres displayed en masse and consider how time shapes their creation and enjoyment. A selection of wearable pieces that merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design will tell powerful stories of cultural continuity and artistic innovation in the Small Object Space. Using materials ranging from emu feathers and native timbers to metals and clay, these works gently reference an ancient practice of adornment, bringing age-old techniques into today. CAIA Collective

Gallery: Machinery Street Gallery This newly formed collective – comprising of students from QCAD's Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art program – brings together emerging voices in the field in the Machinery Street Gallery. CAIA Collective represents the next generation of Indigenous designers and makers, demonstrating the importance of supporting and nurturing emerging First Nations creative practices. This exhibition runs alongside exhibitions in artisan's Main and Small Objects galleries as part of our ommitment to celebrating and elevating Indigenous voices in contemporary craft and design.
