The exhibition will display 60 artworks from the Odessa Museum of East and West and 25 artworks from the Berlin Gallery, comparing the similarities between the two collections and exploring the artistic origins between Ukraine and Western European countries. The Odessa Museum of East and West was founded in 1923 and is one of the most important foreign art collection institutions in Ukraine. In September 2023, 74 core collections from the Odessa Museum of East and West's painting collection were sent to Berlin to avoid being affected by the war. This collection is all European paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries, including paintings by many well-known artists such as Frans Hals, a Dutch Golden Age painter, Bernardo Strozzi, an Italian Baroque painter, Andreas Achenbach, a German romantic landscape painter, and Frits Thaulow, a Norwegian impressionist painter. The exhibition will be divided into 9 chapters, first introducing the German-Ukrainian art transfer and protection cooperation project and its background, and then displaying the collection according to different art schools and genres.

Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is a famous Protestant church in Berlin, the German capital, located on the museum island in the center of the city, adjacent to the Spree River. This magnificent church is not only the religious center of Berlin, but also an important landmark and tourist attraction in the city. The history of the Berlin Cathedral dates back to the 15th century, when there was a smaller church at the same location. The existing cathedral was built from 1894 to 1905 under the orders of the German Emperor Wilhelm II to serve as the court church of the Hohenzollern family. The original church was demolished in the late 19th century to make way for a new, more grand church. The Berlin Cathedral was designed in Renaissance and Baroque style by architect Julius Raschdorf (Julius Raschdorff). Its gorgeous exterior and exquisite interiors reflect the characteristics of the new Baroque architecture. The church is 98 meters high and its green dome is an important part of the Berlin skyline. During World War II, the Berlin Cathedral was severely damaged, especially when an airstrike in 1944 caused the dome to partially collapse. After the war, the restoration of the church continued for decades, and was finally completed in 1993. ⛪️ The interior of the church is gorgeously decorated with many exquisite sculptures, paintings and mosaics. The altar paintings and pulpit on the central altar are particularly striking. ⛪️ Berlin Cathedral has a pipe organ built by William Sal (Wilhelm Sauer), one of the largest and most important historical pipe organs in the world. Visitors can climb 270 steps to the observation deck of the church dome, from which you can overlook the magnificent view of central Berlin.

We had a great experience at the Berliner Fernsehturm! The view from the top is absolutely stunning, offering a panoramic look over Berlin. We went early in the morning to avoid the queues, which made the visit even more enjoyable. If you want to make the most of your time and skip long waiting times, we definitely recommend going early.
