The VASD Program is thrilled to present ESTEBAN CABEZA DE BACA - West of Federal, Artist Talk and Exhibition, a free and public event featuring renowned artist Esteban Cabeza de Baca. This captivating event will take place at RMCAD's Mary Harris Auditorium in Denver on March 19, 2024. The doors will open at 5:00 pm, followed by an exhibition reception, and the much-anticipated Artist Talk will commence at 5:30 pm.

Born and raised in San Ysidro, CA, Esteban Cabeza de Baca experienced firsthand the unique and complex dynamics of living on the US-Mexico border. His time spent in west Denver during the 1990s to early 2000s further immersed him in the diverse and vibrant Chicano community. Cabeza de Baca's remarkable paintings and sculptures employ a diverse range of techniques to challenge limited perspectives of American history. Often set against the breathtaking backdrop of the American Southwest, his works capture pivotal moments where social, political, environmental, and familial narratives intertwine.

Esteemed venues such as the Garth Greenan Gallery in New York City, the Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas, and the Kunstfort in Vijfhuizen, Netherlands have showcased Cabeza de Baca's solo exhibitions. His exceptional talent has led to his work being featured in prestigious collections including Harvard University, MCA San Diego, and the Beth de Woody collection.

A graduate of the Denver School of the Arts, Esteban Cabeza de Baca obtained his BFA from The Cooper Union in 2010 and his MFA from Columbia University in 2014. He currently divides his time between the US borderlands and Queens, NY, and is represented by the renowned Garth Greenan Gallery.

This Colorado State Government Capitol is the seat of the state legislature and the governor&#39;s office, and is also the office of the Senate and House of Representatives.

It is said that the golden roof of this capitol is made of pure gold to commemorate the gold rush in Colorado.

Union Station is a building that shared together with Crawford Hotel. The building look very antique with many shops and restaurants for your shopping or meal before taking the train just behind the building. Really convenient.....👍👏💪

Lots of great exhibits and the animals look well cared for.  I would love for more non zoo attractions and services.  More food stands for instance.
