Julia Bates Singer-songwriter Julia Bates began performing around campfires and country shows while growing up in regional New South Wales. Since moving to Brisbane in her late teens, she has performed as a soloist and sung backing vocals for Clare Cowley and several other local artists. Julia delivers her introspective and referential lyrics in a timbre that conveys both strength and fragility. Her songwriting and vocals draw comparisons to Laura Marling, Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell. Julia's song writing poeticises the complexity of human emotion, combining vivid imagery and sincere storytelling to create an evocative listening experience.
