Use of Self
 
This is a 2 Day event held over Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June
 
Social services and health care training. This is an accreditted course by CPD and counted as 12 CPD credits.
Use of self provides training and learning opportunities for professionals who are working with children and young people directly and for parents/primary care givers. The purpose of the training is to develop an understanding of each child’s individual needs to support healthy development, mental health and well-being. Training also enables professionals and parents/care givers to develop an understanding of self and how they present within the therapeutic relationship. This then creates an emotional holding space for the child which can support them to work through any barriers to their developmental potential. We work in partnership with The Holding Space SCIO.
This course is designed to support the development of therapeutic relationships and how they aid in direct working with children and young people. What theories underpin a therapeutic relationship and how to apply theory to practice. Course supports the development of tools required to deliver meaningful and purposeful direct work. Practical guidance on conducting direct work exercises, including examples of tools, resources to take, how to set the tone, and how to engage with children and young people. Also things to consider on how to engage in safe and ethical practice with course material on self-awareness and reflective practice.

Have an introductory understanding of Attachment theory, child development, emotional containment, behaviour and communication

Have an understanding of practical tools that can be used in working with children and young people and how to apply them why this course
Day 1 Times –
9.30am-5pm
Break – 15 minutes at 11am
Lunch break – 12.45pm for 1 hour Break
