About the EventJoin us for a hands-on workshop with textile artist and sustainable fashion activist Abigail Wastie, where you’ll learn the relaxing and ancient craft of tapestry weaving. During this session, Abigail will guide you through the process of weaving a letter shape, which will become part of a collaborative tapestry celebrating the Swadlincote Miners' Canary Birds. We’ll be using British rug wool and working with simple tools – no prior experience needed, just bring your curiosity and creativity! This event is part of Dare to Dream – a textile-based project that creatively repurposes waste materials, weaving together individual and collective dreams for the future. Through making, storytelling, and collaboration, Dare to Dream invites communities to explore hopeful visions of what could be.
