Coventry Biennial Cycle Club, a cycling initiative in Coventry and Warwickshire, aims to foster connections between individuals, artists, and cultural institutions. By engaging in a social and active manner, this club promotes well-being, mutual support, and a deeper engagement with the local art scene. During the upcoming meeting on November 26, 2023, participants will embark on a cycling journey, visiting various exhibition venues across the city. Starting at the Old Grammar School, the group will then proceed to the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, and later, explore the partner exhibition "Phantom Sculptures" at the Mead Gallery on the University of Warwick campus. The event will conclude with a return to the Old Grammar School. At each venue, knowledgeable curators will offer insights into the displayed artworks and projects. The Coventry Biennial Cycle Club welcomes all individuals and is completely free, supported by Arts Council England. To ensure safety and cohesion within the group, it is advised that participants adhere to certain guidelines, such as having a roadworthy bicycle equipped with lights and a bell, wearing a helmet and weather-appropriate attire, and bringing personal supplies, including water and cycling essentials. The event covers approximately 12 miles, incorporating roads, cycle paths, and public parks. Led by the Coventry Biennial team, this inclusive initiative guarantees that no one is left behind. Kindly note that the event is not suitable for individuals under 16 years old, and participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Coventry Biennial Cycle Club has been developed as part of the Spatial Practices in Art and Architecture for Empathetic Exchange (SPACEX) project, financially supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE).
