Join Karené for this introduction to Block Printing and learn all about printing pattern onto textiles with wooden relief blocks. The process of block printing is calming and meditative, and at the same time there is something really satisfying and exciting about gradually seeing a pattern grow on your fabric. We will use hand-carved wooden blocks from India to explore pattern repeats. You will learn how to get the inking and the pressure just right and then combine your own choice of colour and motifs to create your own unique pattern design.  You will first print your design onto a large sheet of paper (for gift wrap, bookbinding or other crafts) and then you will have the choice between printing onto a fabric tea towel or a tote bag. All materials and tools are included in the cost of this workshop. Items must be heat-set at home with an iron before washing (instructions will be provided). The Tutor:  Karené (she/her) is a South African artist, photographer and printmaker with a Fine Art Degree in History of Art & Studio Practice and a PG Cert Applied Art & Social Practice. In recent years her love for printmaking was reignited out of a need to make with her hands and she is now a certified block printing tutor.
The Venue: Creative Bloc Glasgow is a new arts collective and creative studio in Glasgow North-West. 814 Garscube Road, G20 7ET.

First busses 60, 60A, 61 - Bluebird X10, X10A and West Coast Motors 17 all stop on Maryhill Road just 2 minutes walk away.
Kelvinbridge and St Georges Cross underground are approx 17mins walk.

We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the &ldquo;old fashioned house&rdquo; and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.

George Square is located in the heart of Glasgow, and it is very convenient to take a train or subway. You can sunbathe in the square on a good day. Near the famous store street, you can buy hand letters, clothes, shoes and socks. There are also many restaurants to choose from. George Square is a must-see attraction. In addition to admiring the architecture of the square; at different festivals, such as Christmas, the square will be transformed into a mobile playground full of dynamic and happy atmosphere.
