Bill Rauch, the inaugural Artistic Director of The Perelman Center for the Performing Arts (PAC NYC) at the World Trade Center, has a distinguished career in the theater industry. With a Tony Award-winning production and numerous regional theater credits to his name, Rauch has made his mark on Broadway and beyond. From 2007 to 2019, he served as Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where he directed seven world premieres and reimagined classic musicals, including a groundbreaking version of "Oklahoma!" Rauch's commitment to commissioning new plays that explore transformative moments in American history led to the creation of the acclaimed "American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle," which showcased works by renowned playwrights such as Lynn Nottage and Paula Vogel. Before his time at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Rauch co-founded the Cornerstone Theater Company and directed over 40 productions in collaboration with diverse communities across the country. His directorial work extends to prestigious theaters like the Yale Repertory Theater and the American Repertory Theater. With a Claire Trevor Professorship at the University of California Irvine, Rauch has also shared his expertise with students at USC and UCLA.
