Celebrate the highly anticipated new exhibition at Vision Gallery, titled "Art Quilts: Breaking Rules, Honoring Tradition." This remarkable event will take place from November 18, 2023, to January 12, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona. The exhibition, now in its 28th year, explores the fascinating interplay between pushing boundaries and adhering to time-honored techniques within the realm of fiber art. Renowned artist and museum-arts educator, Shelly White, served as the juror for this prestigious exhibition. Artists were encouraged to interpret the theme in a multitude of ways, from experimenting with various physical techniques and materials to incorporating personal narratives or commenting on social, cultural, and political issues. In addition to traditional quilting fabrics, alternative substrates such as wood, paper, and metal were also considered. Craftsmanship, originality, design, and concept were the criteria used to evaluate all submissions, regardless of whether they followed traditional or unconventional approaches, or a combination of both. Shelly White, known for her unique contemporary artworks that pay homage to traditional quilting, employs hand-dyed and printed textiles, found papers, and maps. Her work explores the concept of navigation, examining how we traverse both real and imagined geographies and the passage of time on an emotional level. Don't miss the chance to experience this extraordinary exhibition. The Vision Gallery is located at 10 East Chicago Street, Chandler, AZ 85225. Admission to the opening reception is free, allowing art enthusiasts and the general public alike to immerse themselves in the captivating world of "Art Quilts: Breaking Rules, Honoring Tradition."
