Join the Art in the AM: Contemplation at the Rothko event on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. CST at the beautiful Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas. This event, funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance and generously supported by the Houston Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Mid-America Arts Alliance, offers participants the opportunity to prioritize their creative well-being through contemplation. As we navigate the busy and noisy aspects of life, finding moments of quiet and reflection can be challenging. However, by immersing yourself in this Whole Artist Event, you can engage in the practice of contemplation, which has numerous benefits for artistic and personal growth. During the workshop, attendees will receive writing or drawing prompts to carry with them into the serene chapel and surrounding grounds. Spend an hour in solitary contemplation, allowing the chapel's peaceful atmosphere to inspire your creative expression. Afterward, come together with fellow participants to share your experiences and the results of your quiet writing time. Street parking is available around the Menil and Rothko, with smooth gravel and concrete paths leading to the Rothko and its surroundings. This event is open to members free of charge.
